Jolene, Joel and family: I am so deeply sorry for your loss. It was so nice seeing Lois – actually on her 1st day at Serra Manor. I was surprised that she remembered me. At 97(!) she was still that cute, petite woman with that adorable smile that I remembered ‘back in the day’! I will keep you all in my prayers.

Joel and Joelene, so sorry to hear about your mom.she was a wonderful person and a pleasure to be around. I’ll never forget the time she came over the house a few years back when dad and Marie were here and I said hi Mrs. Carping! Jolene, Joel and families, Your mom was my first grade teacher. She was wonderful ! I can still remember when she was not there for the day and we had a substitute teacher. I was a 6 year old in distress! Didn’t think I could survive the day without her!! You are in my thoughts and prayers during this time. Love , Carole Przybysz Smay

Dear Jolene and Joel and families, Norma, Danny (MHS ’72), and Diane (MHS ’79) send our heartfelt condolences to each of you. The Horvath family has soooo many happy memories with the Carpini family and we treasure them all! I’ll tell one story of Lois as my first grade teacher. Of course, because we didn’t have kindergarten in WV back in the day, you mother was my very first school teacher. We did a Christmas pageant in St. Joe’s church that Lois had written. It was all the letters A to Z with each kid reciting a little story for that letter. I was the narrator to start the pageant. I came out in front of the church and said: “We’ve worked so hard since school began, we’ve learned to read and write. This alphabet we bring to you describes that Holy Night.” And your mother was off on the side, mouthing every word, and coaching me through my little speech as my eyes locked on hers. It was a precious thing – the confidence she gave me that night – that she reinforced my whole first year of school. I’ve never lost my love of learning, and I thank Lois for instilling it in me that year. Her passing is such a big loss for so many, as I know there are countless stories like mine. Lois is teaching and learning on a really big stage now, and she’ll always be in our hearts with gratitude and love. I hope that brings you comfort and peace.

Joel and Jolene: Prayers for you and all the family on the loss of your mom. Everyone loved “Mrs. Carpini” at St. Joe’s and she loved her students. May all the beautiful memories of her comfort you during this difficult time.
