James Edward “Jim” Young, 73, of Weirton, WV, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at WVU Medicine – Weirton.

Born on May 13, 1951, in Beaver Falls, PA, Jim was one of four children born to James A. and Josephina Pingatore Young. He graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1969 and continued his education at Penn State University.

Jim dedicated over three decades of his life as a Rotary Equipment Specialist, where he was highly respected for his knowledge and expertise. He was known for his sharp intellect, resourcefulness, and ability to fix or build anything he set his mind to. Jim had a passion for tinkering, always finding joy in creating and repairing.

While working at Ergon, Jim met Carla Gianni, and together they found love again. They were married on March 20, 2010.  He loved his family and friends deeply, and always had a positive impact on those around him.

Jim was a member of Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Church and the Paris Sportsman’s Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James A. and Josephina Young.

Jim will be remembered with love by his wife, Carla; his sons, James Oscar (Jane) Young and Harrison John (Lauren) Young; his stepchildren, Michael Gianni Palma and his partner, Quincey, and Emily (Robb Keene) Palma; his brother, William “Billy” (Debbie) Young; his sisters, Linda (Harry “Butch”) Davis and Judy Johnson; and his three grandchildren, Helena Josephine Young, Oscar Lawrence Young, and Sienna Rose Keene. He will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and countless friends.

Visitation will be Friday from 3-7 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM on Saturday at Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, Weirton.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Church, Weirton, WV.

  1. To all of Jim’ s loved ones: I pray that God comforts you at this most difficult time and always. I’m happy that I was able to spend a little time with him recently. We shared some good laughs at Carla’s expense. He made sure I knew how much he loved Carla, the visits from Harrison’s family and the visits from Fr. Larry.
