George E. Douglas

George E. Douglas, 80, of Weirton, went from the love of his family and friends to the love of the Lord on Saturday, August 21, 2004 at the Weirton Medical Center. He was born on July 12, 1924 in Oklahoma, the son of the late John and Ann (Klash) Douglas. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Lee Reese Douglas. George retired with over 40 years of service from the Weirton Steel division of National Steel where he worked as a Foreman in the Steel Works Machine Shop. He was a member of the Weirton B.P.O.E. 1801, where he was a past Exalted Ruler; Knights of Columbus 3734; Evert Maki American Legion Post 10; Weirton Moose Lodge 688; Weirton Steel 25 Year Club; and the Weirton Steel Management Club. George also served his country in the U.S. Army. George is survived by one daughter, Karen Morrocco and her husband James of Mingo Junction, OH; two sons, William S. Douglas and his wife Connie, and Robert A. Douglas; step-daughter, Patti Lynn Reese; sister, Mildred Popish; brother, John Douglas and two grandsons, James N. and George W. Douglas, all of Weirton. Visitation will be Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where an Elks Service will be held 7 PM Monday. Funeral services will be held 12 PM Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. Fr. Pete Giannamore presiding. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton.
